Geno's Steaks Opens First Maryland Location at Power Plant Live Baltimore

Geno's Steaks, the South Philadelphia cheesesteak institution founded by Joey Vento at 9th and Passyunk in 1966, opened its first Maryland location at Power Plant Live! on March 5-6, occupying a 6,000-square-foot space at 32 Market Place that sat empty after Tin Roof Baltimore closed in 2024.

The Baltimore outpost is only the second Geno's location outside Philadelphia, joining a location in Hampton, Virginia. BMORE Lifestyle host Alex Parker was on-site ahead of the grand opening and interviewed Geno Vento, who now runs the family operation, with footage aired across three segments on WBFF.

The menu carries Geno's Philadelphia lineup: cheesesteaks built on thinly sliced rib-eye with rolls baked fresh daily, Italian hoagies, roast pork sandwiches, meatball sandwiches, and French fries. Customers order their cheese from four options, Whiz, American, Provolone, or Cooper Sharp, and specify onions "wit" or "witout," the same ordering vernacular used at the original corner stand for nearly six decades.

The Baltimore location adds a full bar and a carry-out window not standard to the original Philadelphia setup. Hours run 11 a.m. daily, closing at 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and at 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, positioning it as both a lunch destination and a late-night stop in the Power Plant Live! entertainment complex near the Inner Harbor.

Power Plant Live! is running a promotional contest through March 26, offering free Geno's cheesesteaks for a year. The contest is open to entrants 21 and older, with CHG Baltimore OPCO LLC listed as the sponsor.
