Orioles-Astros postponed by rain, Thursday doubleheader set at Camden Yards
Rain washed out Wednesday night at Camden Yards, pushing fans into a noon doubleheader and squeezing a homestand that was already moving fast.

Rain sent the Orioles and Astros off the field at Camden Yards on Wednesday night, forcing ticket holders, game-day workers and nearby downtown businesses to reset for a Thursday doubleheader that starts before lunch.
Major League Baseball said the postponed game will be made up Thursday, April 30, as a traditional, single-admission doubleheader at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Game one was scheduled for 12:35 p.m. ET, with game two about 30 minutes after the first game ended. Gates were set to open at 11:30 a.m., a much earlier arrival time than a normal night game in Baltimore.
The change mattered immediately for fans who had planned an evening out in downtown Baltimore. Tickets from the original Wednesday, April 29 game were not valid for the doubleheader and could be exchanged for another game date later in the season. MLB also said Field Trip Day, presented by WBAL-TV, remained on schedule for fans who bought that special ticket package.

The postponement also compressed a homestand that moved quickly from one opponent to the next. MLB’s schedule page showed Baltimore at 14-15 and Houston at 11-19 around the time of the rainout, and the Orioles were set to return to home field Friday, May 1, against the Yankees. That left little breathing room after the Astros series and turned a wet Wednesday into a packed Thursday at Camden Yards.
For Baltimore, the effect reached beyond the scoreboard. A rainout at one of the city’s most visible institutions ripples into downtown traffic patterns, game-day staffing and the bars and restaurants that count on Orioles crowds before and after first pitch. In a city where Camden Yards helps set the rhythm of the spring calendar, even one lost night can change the flow of a neighborhood for two days instead of one.
