Ambulance Rollover Near Bemidji Injures Four on Saturday Morning
An ambulance rolled onto its side on icy Highway 89 in Liberty Township just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday, sending all four occupants to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji.

An ambulance traveling southbound on Highway 89 northwest of Bemidji rolled onto its passenger side just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday after the driver lost control on snow- and ice-covered pavement in Liberty Township.
All four people aboard were transported to Sanford Health Bemidji with injuries described as non-life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The ambulance entered the ditch on the east side of Highway 89 before coming to rest on its side.
The State Patrol confirmed the road surface was covered in snow and ice at the time of the crash, consistent with overnight conditions across Beltrami County on Saturday morning. No other vehicles were involved.
The rollover serves as a stark reminder that winter road hazards in northern Minnesota can persist well into April, putting even emergency responders at risk. Highway 89 northwest of Bemidji runs through largely rural stretches of Liberty Township, where help can take time to reach and recovery operations are more complex.
The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the investigation. No charges or citations had been publicly announced as of Saturday.
