Beltrami County Jail Earns 2026 Training Excellence Award from Spark Training

Beltrami County Jail received Spark Training's 2026 Training Excellence Award, the Franklin, Tennessee-based organization announced, placing the facility among 13 correctional agencies nationwide recognized for exceptional commitment to staff training and professional standards.

Spark Training, which describes itself as the nation's leading corrections training partner, cited the award as recognition of facilities that "demonstrate exceptional focus on training and upholding high standards in corrections." The accolade, according to the organization, "is earned by meeting the training goals of an organization, offering important insight into the culture of a facility." Beltrami County was one of four Minnesota county jails to earn the full award. Chisago County, Houston County, Waseca County, McLeod County, and Wadena County Jail also received the recognition, making Minnesota the most represented state in the 2026 winner pool. The remaining honorees spanned six other states: Jasper County in Iowa, Emmet County in Michigan, St. Genevieve County in Missouri, Noble County in Oklahoma, Florence County in Wisconsin, Perry County in Illinois, and Champaign County Sheriff's Office in Illinois.

Five facilities received 2026 Honorable Mentions, including two with regional ties to northern Minnesota: Kanabec County and Mower County and Wabasha County, all in Minnesota, along with Washington County in Nebraska and Green Lake County in Wisconsin.
