Bemidji spring plant sale set for May 16 at fairgrounds
Bemidji gardeners will have two plant sales to choose from on May 16, including a morning sale at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds and another at the food shelf.
Bemidji’s spring planting season will get an early boost when the Bemidji Garden Club and Beltrami County Master Gardeners host their annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 16, at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds.
The sale gives local gardeners a chance to stock up before the short northern Minnesota growing season gets moving in earnest. It also ties into a busy morning on the community calendar, with a separate plant sale listed the same day at the Bemidji Community Food Shelf.
Both sales were listed for the same 9 a.m. to noon window, putting two plant-buying stops on the map for residents who want to spend part of Saturday morning shopping for seedlings, flowers and other garden starts. KAXE’s May 12-17 events roundup also listed both Bemidji plant sales on the same morning.

The fairgrounds sale has become a familiar spring fixture. In 2025, the same event was held at the 4-H building on the Beltrami County Fairgrounds, and organizers said then that the sale was cash-only. They also told customers with plant questions to call the Beltrami County Master Gardeners hotline at 218-444-7916.
That earlier setup offers a useful preview for anyone planning ahead for this year’s sale at the fairgrounds. The club and master gardeners have long used the event to connect local buyers with plants suited to Beltrami County conditions, while keeping the focus on community gardening and seasonal horticulture in Bemidji.

With two plant sales on the same Saturday morning, May 16 is shaping up as one of the more active weekends of the spring calendar for gardeners across Bemidji and Beltrami County.
