Prosecutors charged Damian Patrick Joseph Smith, 29, of Dilworth with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and harassment after a late-night confrontation at Woodland Mobile Home Park in Beltrami County on or about March 6, 2026.

Deputies were dispatched to Lot 603 at about 11:05 p.m. after a call reported Smith had arrived without notice and was scaring children inside the home. The homeowner told authorities she had dated Smith about five or six years ago and had been trying to keep him away. The complaint states he called her about 10 times that day from two different numbers. When she blocked one, he kept calling from the other. She told him not to come over and said she no longer lived there, and warned the young people at the home to lock the doors and call if he showed up.

According to the complaint, Smith swung at a person identified as K.K. and reached for a knife. After deputies heard he might be armed, they pulled him from a vehicle and handcuffed him. A large kitchen knife was later found in a nearby snowbank.

Authorities arrested Smith and booked him into the Beltrami County Jail. The charges remain allegations, and the case is pending in court. Court records are available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch; inquiries about the incident can be directed to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.
