The Sanford Center will turn its arena floor into a spring shopping hall on Saturday, April 25, with the Great Bemidji Garage Sale running from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1111 Event Center Dr. NE in Bemidji. Admission is free, and the event is set up as a single indoor market where shoppers can move from booth to booth without dealing with weather, mud or curbside crowds.

The sale is expected to offer clothing, homemade crafts, baked goods, vintage treasures and other secondhand finds across more than 30,000 square feet of arena space. For families trying to stretch a budget, collectors hunting for unusual pieces and casual browsers looking for one-of-a-kind items, the format offers one stop and one day to cover a wide range of spring shopping needs.

The Sanford Center says the garage sale is building on the success of earlier garage sales and flea-type markets that drew thousands of attendees. That history helps explain why the venue is treating the event as more than a casual resale day: it is positioning the sale as a major indoor gathering that can bring steady traffic to the building and give local sellers an accessible way to reach shoppers in one place.

Vendor space is still part of the draw. Booths are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with early-bird pricing set at $40 through April 1 before rising to $50. Premium double-sized end-cap booths cost $125. Each booth measures 10 feet by 10 feet and includes one chair, a setup that keeps the sale organized while leaving room for a mix of vendors, from crafters and bakers to sellers clearing out household items.

The event also highlights how the Sanford Center has become a regional multipurpose venue. The center says it is Northern Minnesota’s largest event center, and its arena can host events requiring seating for up to 5,000 people. Its convention center includes three ballrooms that can open into a 10,000-square-foot room and a 4,000-square-foot lakeside room that can divide into four smaller spaces, along with 25 luxury suites. The Great Bemidji Garage Sale fits that kind of flexibility, turning the complex into a large indoor marketplace for one busy spring Saturday.
