Sanford Health in Bemidji added certified nurse practitioner Layne Miller, APRN, CNP, to its physical medicine and interventional pain management team, expanding access to specialized pain care for patients across the region.

Miller works with patients to identify the root source of their pain before building individualized treatment plans. Those plans may include minimally invasive procedures, medication management, long-term pain plans and supportive therapy coordination. The conditions he treats include chronic back and neck pain, sciatica and other nerve pain, and arthritis and joint pain.

His approach centers on function and quality of life, not just symptom reduction. "I believe effective pain management is about more than just reducing numbers on a pain scale," Miller said. "It's about building trusting foundational partnerships to regain function, enjoy meaningful activities again and improve overall quality of life."

Miller brings personal ties to northern Minnesota's Indigenous communities. He is a direct descendant of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and grew up in Leech Lake Nation, communities that have historically faced significant barriers to specialized healthcare access. Outside the clinic, he spends time with his family and German shepherd, and pursues hunting, fishing and camping.

Miller is accepting new patients and does not require a referral. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (218) 751-9746 or visiting sanfordhealth.org.
