More than 40 healthcare employers will set up at the Kealakehe High School Gym on Wednesday, March 25, for Hawai'i Island Community Health Center's 2nd Annual Healthcare Career Expo, running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and free to anyone who walks through the door.

The expo brings together hiring organizations from across the island under one roof, giving job seekers a chance to meet directly with recruiters, talk with working healthcare professionals, and size up opportunities in a sector HICHC describes as one "that will always be in high demand." Sponsored by AlohaCare, Queen's, and HMSA, the event covers the full spectrum of healthcare employment, from entry-level positions to licensed clinical roles.

Job categories on the floor will span three broad areas. Entry-level healthcare roles include Medical Assistants, Dental Assistants, Patient Navigation, and Case Management. A support services track covers Customer Service, Administrative Support, Finance, Insurance, Outreach, IT, Facilities, Data, Marketing, Communications, and Design. Licensed positions include Nurses, Hygienists, Social Workers, and Medical Providers and Specialists.

HICHC framed the event as a chance for attendees to weigh not just open positions but the full career picture: "The public is invited to come learn about the variety of health care employers and job opportunities here on Hawai'i Island, with many offering workplace training, great pay and benefits, continuing education support, and paths for career growth."

Employers interested in exhibiting will receive free booth space along with complimentary tables and chairs. HICHC has specifically invited organizations that participated in last year's Hilo event as well as those joining for the first time, noting that "all healthcare employers with roles on Hawai'i Island are invited to participate." Employer registration and vendor space reservations are available through HICHC's website.

Organizations considering a sponsorship role can reach Marcie Saquing at MSaquing@HICommunityHealthCenter.org. General inquiries about the event can go to either Saquing or Kacey Pilayo at KLPilayo@HICommunityHealthCenter.org.

Kealakehe High School is located in Kailua-Kona. The event is the second in what HICHC is building into an annual series connecting Big Island residents with the healthcare workforce pipeline, following last year's inaugural gathering in Hilo.
