BVU Men's Track Opens Outdoor Season With Strong Dutch Invitational Showing

Junior Nick Walch turned in a runner-up finish in the pole vault to highlight Buena Vista University's outdoor season debut at the Central College Dutch Invitational in Pella on Saturday.

The meet, hosted on Central College's campus, drew 28 schools from across the region. Organizers did not keep team scores, making individual performances the defining measure of the day for the Beavers and every other program in the field.

Walch's second-place showing was the signature result for BVU's men's squad. The Storm Lake native has made a habit of contending at the top of pole vault leaderboards throughout his collegiate career, having notched runner-up finishes at the Red Raider Open and the Dennis Young Alumni Classic during his freshman year. Saturday's performance continued that pattern on the outdoor stage, signaling that the junior remains one of the more reliable field event competitors in the American Rivers Conference.
