BVU Softball Falls Twice in Florida, Drops 10-1 and 4-2 Decisions

The Buena Vista University softball team returned from its Spring Break trip to Florida without a win, dropping both games played March 11 in a difficult day on the diamond.

The Beavers were handled decisively in the opener, falling 10-1 to Northwestern-St. Paul in a contest that was never particularly close. The margin reflected a significant offensive mismatch, with BVU managing just one run against the Eagles.

The second game told a tighter story. BVU fell 4-2 in a game that stayed within reach considerably longer, with the Beavers generating two runs but unable to complete the comeback against their opponent.

The twin losses extended what figures to be a challenging early-season stretch for Storm Lake's Division III program. Spring Break trips south are a tradition for northern college softball programs, offering the chance to play competitive games while avoiding the lingering cold of an Iowa March. The Florida slate gives BVU an opportunity to work through lineup combinations and pitching rotations before conference play intensifies, though the two-game skid adds to the work the Beavers have ahead of them upon returning to campus.

BVU will look to regroup as the schedule continues to build toward American Rivers Conference competition later in the spring.
