Circus coming to Buena Vista County Fairgrounds in Alta

C&M Circus is set for a one-night stop at the Buena Vista County Fairgrounds in Alta, with shows at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3. The booking gives Buena Vista County families an evening option close to home and adds another event to the summer calendar at 5800 55th Ave, Alta, IA 51002.

The circus has been promoted publicly by both Culpepper & Merriweather Circus and the Buena Vista County Fair, and it also appears on the Buena Vista County Fair schedule. That matters in a place like Alta, where the fairgrounds function as a regional gathering spot for more than just fair week. A traveling circus brings a different kind of crowd to the same grounds that host livestock shows, youth events and other community activity.

The timing also fits a busy summer routine. A Monday night show lets families work around job schedules, school activities and the slower pace that settles over northwest Iowa in August. The two performance times create an early option and a later option, which can help spread attendance across the evening and make the event easier to fit into a normal week.

C&M Circus also points potential buyers toward advance tickets, signaling that organizers are encouraging people to plan ahead rather than wait until the last minute.
