Iowa NRC recommends Storm Lake Marina transfer to Buena Vista Conservation Board
Iowa Natural Resource Commission voted Feb. 24 to recommend transfer of title for roughly 17.5 acres of Storm Lake Marina to the Buena Vista County Conservation Board.

The Iowa Natural Resource Commission voted Feb. 24 to recommend that the State Executive Council approve transfer of title for the Storm Lake Marina property, a lakefront parcel of roughly 17.5 acres, to the Buena Vista County Conservation Board. The recommendation moves ownership consideration from state review to the executive-level body that must sign off before title can change hands.
Commission members directed the formal recommendation at their Feb. 24 meeting, logging the parcel as the Storm Lake Marina property in Buena Vista County. The action was a vote to recommend transfer of title rather than a direct conveyance; the State Executive Council is the next decision-maker under the state’s property-transfer process.

If the State Executive Council approves the recommended transfer, title to the roughly 17.5 acres of lakefront at Storm Lake will be conveyed to the Buena Vista County Conservation Board. That board, which serves Buena Vista County and the Storm Lake area, would become the legal owner of the marina parcel once the executive council’s approval is completed.
Local officials and marina stakeholders in Storm Lake will now await the State Executive Council’s calendar for review and final approval. The NRC’s Feb. 24 recommendation formally advances the transfer request and places the question of ownership of the 17.5-acre Storm Lake Marina parcel squarely before the state’s executive-level decision process.
