Lakeshore Cafe Takes Over Storm Lake Senior Center Meal Delivery Program

Lakeshore Cafe, a long-established Storm Lake restaurant, took over catering duties for the Storm Lake Senior Center's "Dinner Date" program in early March 2026, replacing Lisa Funk of Storm Lake Bakery in the role of serving congregate lunches and delivering meals to older residents at home.

The Dinner Date program combines an on-site lunchtime service with a home-delivery component for seniors who cannot travel to the Senior Center. Lakeshore Cafe assumed responsibility for the lunchtime service that Funk and Storm Lake Bakery had previously provided, continuing a program that has long connected local restaurants with the county's aging population.

The transition represents a shift between two locally rooted operations. Storm Lake Bakery, through Funk, had been the program's caterer before Lakeshore Cafe stepped in. The exact circumstances of the handoff, including contract terms, the number of residents served, and any changes to menus or delivery schedules, were not immediately available.

The change was noted in the March 13 edition of the Storm Lake Times Pilot, which covers community and civic affairs across Buena Vista County.
