Storm Lake Driver Arrested After Wheelchair Pedestrian Struck and Injured

Storm Lake police say a pedestrian using a wheelchair was struck while crossing at North Lake Avenue and 12th Street on December 21 and was taken to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. Officers allege the driver of a northbound white pickup failed to yield in a marked crosswalk, struck the pedestrian, and left the scene without rendering aid.

Investigators used nearby license plate reader footage to locate a damaged pickup later parked on Chole Lane and to identify the vehicle owner as Myron Aron, a 34 year old Storm Lake resident. Aron was arrested without incident, showed signs of impairment at the scene, and was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail. Criminal counts filed include leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, operating without a valid license, failing to yield to a pedestrian, and operating under the influence. Aron was held on 4,600 dollars bond.
