Storm Lake Extension Schedules 4-H, Pesticide and Dog Training Sessions in April
Pesticide applicators in Buena Vista County are running out of time: Storm Lake Extension's "Last Chance" CIC sessions began Tuesday alongside 4-H and dog training programming.

The Iowa State University Extension & Outreach office in Storm Lake wrapped up a three-day burst of community programming Wednesday, capping the stretch with a second private pesticide applicator continuing instruction session just two days after 4-H volunteers gathered for a key holder workshop and area dog owners convened for an obedience meeting.
The run of events began Monday, April 6, when 4-H volunteers and leaders gathered at the Storm Lake office for the Entryway Key Holder Workshop at 2:00 p.m. The session targets the logistical backbone of Buena Vista County's fair pipeline: the volunteers who manage project intake and exhibit handling when youth bring their work to county events.
Tuesday, April 7 brought two separate sessions. At 1:00 p.m., the office opened its "Last Chance Private Pesticide Applicator CIC Session 1 of 3," aimed at producers and commercial applicators who need continuing instruction hours to keep their private applicator licenses current. The label "Last Chance" signals that options for completing the required coursework before a licensing deadline are narrowing. A second session ran the same evening at 6:00 p.m., a Dog Obedience Meeting open to area pet owners looking for structured training resources.
Wednesday morning brought CIC Session 2 at 9:00 a.m., continuing the three-part course for applicators working through the full licensing requirement.
The three-day cluster sits inside a broader spring schedule from the Buena Vista County office, which also posted a plant sale listing and the Cyclone Lambing School earlier in the week, reflecting seasonally timed programming for producers and hobbyists ahead of planting season.
The Extension office is located at 701 Seneca Street, Suite 1, in Storm Lake. Those with questions about 4-H programming, pesticide CIC registration or the dog obedience series can reach the office at 712-732-5056 or xbuenavista@iastate.edu.
