Storm Lake Lifts Snow Emergency, Parking Restrictions Now Removed

Storm Lake's snow emergency, declared ahead of a National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning, has been lifted, ending the overnight parking restrictions that had been in place since Sunday, March 15 at 10 p.m.

The City had originally set the emergency to run through Wednesday, March 18 at 6 a.m., giving City Public Services crews unobstructed access to clear residential and downtown streets during overnight hours. City officials noted from the outset that the emergency would be lifted early if snow removal proved unnecessary once the warning period expired.

During the emergency, parking was prohibited on all residential streets between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. and on Central Business District streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Downtown public parking lots designated as Lot B and Lot D were also off-limits overnight, while Lot A and Lot C remained available for overnight parking throughout the emergency period. Vehicles found in violation faced ticketing and towing under the City's snow policy.

The declaration had been triggered by a National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning, with the City's Facebook post also referencing NWS blizzard and high wind advisories.
