Eighty-five Storm Lake Middle School students will bring Bikini Bottom to life this weekend when the school stages SpongeBob the Musical at the Storm Lake High School auditorium, with performances set for Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, both beginning at 7 p.m.
The production marks a significant undertaking for a middle school program, with its cast of 85 student performers filling the roles of SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, and the rest of the iconic animated ensemble. The Storm Lake High School auditorium, one of the largest performance venues in Buena Vista County, will serve as the backdrop for both nights.
SpongeBob the Musical, adapted from the long-running Nickelodeon animated series, has become a popular choice for school productions since its Broadway run. The show's large ensemble structure makes it well-suited for programs looking to involve a wide cross-section of students, and the Storm Lake Middle School cast size reflects that ambition.

Both performances begin at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday.
