Storm Lake Mourns Lakeside Resident Roger Pomrenke at Age 88

Roger L. Pomrenke, 88, of Lakeside died Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a hard-fought battle with cancer-related illnesses. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.

Pomrenke, a longtime Lakeside resident, died at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. His Funeral Mass is taking place today, Tuesday, March 31, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, where burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation was held Monday, March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

The Pomrenke family's ties to St. Mary's run deep. His son Daniel graduated from St. Mary's High School in Storm Lake in 1983, a connection that places the family firmly within the parish community that will gather to remember Roger today.

Pomrenke passed away peacefully surrounded by love and prayers of his family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer-related illnesses.
