Hendersonville's Jena Denny put her name on the March 23 girls soccer scoreboard, netting a goal in the Bearcats' 3-2 victory over Owen, one of nine girls soccer results across Western North Carolina that headlined a full Monday slate of prep sports.

Smoky Mountain delivered the day's most dramatic finish in softball, edging East Henderson 11-10 in a one-run thriller, while North Buncombe blanked McDowell 2-0 and Enka rolled past Swain County 7-1. Franklin posted the most lopsided result on the diamond, beating Tuscola 20-2. Draughn handled Freedom 10-0 to round out the softball action.

In girls soccer, Tuscola topped North Henderson 4-2, giving the Mountaineers a notable conference result, while Smoky Mountain knocked off Pisgah 5-2. Mountain Heritage overwhelmed Avery County 5-1, and Franklin won 2-0 over East Henderson. Andrews defeated Cherokee 4-1, Murphy beat Swain County 3-0, and Polk County edged Madison 4-2. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy routed Jackson Day 9-0, and Draughn and North Gaston played to a 1-1 draw.

On the baseball diamond, Andrews survived a tight contest against Robbinsville 6-5 in a rematch of a rivalry that has produced close finishes all spring. East Rutherford beat East Lincoln 3-1, and Shelby handled Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy 12-2.

The Monday results continue a stretch of heavy activity across WNC prep programs as spring schedules deepen into conference play. Buncombe County schools, including North Buncombe, Enka, Tuscola, and Pisgah, were spread across all three sports, with North Buncombe's softball shutout of McDowell standing as the county's cleanest result of the night.
