Buncombe County Schools Hosts Free STEAM Day at Nesbitt Discovery Academy
Buncombe County Schools brings free Pi Day science fun to Nesbitt Discovery Academy this Saturday, with animal ambassadors, a geo dome, and Lego robotics demos.

Buncombe County Schools will fill Nesbitt Discovery Academy with hands-on science, robotics, and live animals this Saturday when it hosts its annual STEAM Day, a free event timed to coincide with Pi Day on March 14.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nesbitt, located at 175 Bingham Road in Asheville, and is open to families at no cost. This year's theme, "Infinite Curiosity, Infinite Digits," draws directly from the mathematics of pi, whose value begins with 3.14, matching the date.
"Our theme this year is 'Infinite Curiosity, Infinite Digits,' which represents the many activities happening on 3-14, Pi Day, which celebrates the mathematical constant of 3.14," said BCS Science Specialist Kate Whittier. "We want to inspire students to celebrate the endless wonder of pi through hands-on activities that spark imagination, innovation, and problem solving."
Attractions include the Asheville Museum of Science Geo Dome, Animal Ambassadors from the WNC Nature Center, and demonstrations from Buncombe County Schools Lego Robotics teams. The lineup spans all five STEAM disciplines: science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Concessions will be available from four vendors: 6 Pigs BBQ, Bigfoot Longs, Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck, and Kona Ice.
The event is produced by Buncombe County Schools and supported by the Buncombe County Schools Foundation. BCS Communications first announced the date on February 15.
