UNC Asheville Bulldogs Excel in Tennis, Baseball and Track This Spring
Jip Mens and Cian Ingles anchored a doubles sweep as UNCA men's tennis beat Belmont Abbey 5-2, part of a busy late-March stretch for the Bulldogs.

Jip Mens and Cian Ingles clinched the No. 1 doubles point 7-5 on March 28 as UNC Asheville's men's tennis squad dispatched Belmont Abbey 5-2, capping a weekend in which the Bulldogs competed across three sports in and around Buncombe County.
The doubles sweep was the foundation of the victory. Griffin Lovern and Harrison Cooper backed Mens and Ingles with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, handing UNCA the point before singles play began. Four singles wins then secured the final margin, giving the Bulldogs a clean team result heading into the final stretch of spring competition.
Baseball had a fuller workload. UNCA hosted Western Carolina at Greenwood Field on March 24, then traveled to USC Upstate for a three-game series spanning March 27-29. The road trip came during a stretch of conference play that will shape the Bulldogs' Big South standing as April approaches. The baseball program has offered free or reduced-price admission at select Greenwood Field games this season, giving area families an inexpensive look at collegiate competition.
Track and field athletes rounded out the weekend by competing in regional meets and relays, with some hitting qualifying marks that matter for conference and NCAA postseason consideration. Individual standards reached in late March carry real weight when seeding and eligibility decisions arrive later in the spring.
The results from the USC Upstate series and the tennis win over Belmont Abbey will factor directly into UNCA's postseason positioning across programs. Conference play continues into April, and the late-March performances have set the tone for what the Bulldogs can realistically accomplish in the Big South.
