Celina neighbor dispute turns deadly, one shot, suspect jailed

Celina police said a fight between neighbors in the Carter Ranch neighborhood escalated fast enough to leave one person with multiple gunshot wounds and send a 38-year-old man to the Collin County jail on five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers were called around 6 p.m. Sunday, May 3, to the 300 block of Tarpan Trail after reports of a disturbance. Police said one person was treated at the scene and another was taken to a hospital. Celina police said the victim is expected to recover. Investigators later arrested Jason-Glenn Bishop and set his bond at $380,000.

NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reported that Celina Fire EMTs took the injured person to a nearby hospital and that another person was offered treatment at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not said publicly what triggered the dispute beyond describing it as a conflict between neighbors that escalated quickly.

The shooting landed in a subdivision that Celina records describe as a planned development for single-family detached homes and commercial uses, a reminder of how quickly neighborhood disputes can turn dangerous in fast-growing suburbs. Celina’s population stood at 64,726 as of Jan. 1, 2025, and the police department lists 58 sworn officers and 25,664 calls responded to in 2024, numbers that reflect the strain that rapid growth can put on public safety.
