Free ticket registration is now open for the 2027 PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, giving golf fans a no-cost way to get in line before tickets go on sale to registrants in May 2026. The championship will run May 17-23, 2027, and organizers are using the early registration process because demand is expected to be heavy.

For Frisco and the rest of Collin County, the tournament carries a significance that goes well beyond golf. It will be the first men’s major championship in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since Jack Nicklaus won the 1963 PGA Championship at Dallas Athletic Club, and the first men’s major in Texas since the 1969 U.S. Open at Champions Golf Club in Houston. The 2027 event also lands as the 100th anniversary of Walter Hagen’s 1927 PGA Championship victory at Cedar Crest Country Club in Dallas, tying North Texas to the modern game’s early history.

The scale of the championship is expected to put serious pressure on local hotels, restaurants and roads around PGA Frisco. Organizers anticipate more than 200,000 spectators during championship week, and the modern PGA Championship field includes 156 players, a mix of top-ranked professionals and PGA of America Golf Professionals. Television coverage is projected to reach nearly 500 million households in more than 170 countries, giving Frisco a global spotlight that few North Texas sporting events can match.

PGA of America Championship Director Jason Mengel called the tournament a milestone moment for the region and for golf fans across the state. That message fits the larger shift already visible at PGA Frisco, a 660-acre public-private partnership involving the PGA of America, Omni Hotels & Resorts, the City of Frisco and the Frisco Independent School District. The site has already handled major-event pressure, hosting the 2023 Senior PGA Championship and the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East.

For Frisco, the free registration window is more than a ticketing notice. It is an early marker that the city’s newest sports landmark is moving from construction-era promise to full-scale destination, with championship week poised to bring visitor traffic, spending and national attention to a part of North Texas that has spent years building toward this moment.
