Frisco's Toyota Stadium, Mansfield Stadium Named World Cup 2026 Base Camps
Dan Hunt called it "an incredible honor" after FC Dallas Stadium (Toyota Stadium) in Frisco and Mansfield Stadium were named Team Base Camp Training Sites for World Cup 2026 teams.

Dan Hunt, president of FC Dallas and co-chair of the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee, called the selections "an incredible honor" after FC Dallas Stadium, normally known as Toyota Stadium, in Frisco and Mansfield Stadium in Mansfield were announced as Team Base Camp Training Sites for FIFA World Cup 2026 teams. "Being selected as Team Base Camp Training Sites reinforces what we’ve believed for a long time - that this region is the epicenter of FIFA World Cup 2026. These facilities reflect years of investment in infrastructure, player development, and community partnerships. We’re proud to play a role in hosting the world’s best teams and to welcome the soccer world to our local community," Hunt said.
The announcement, made March 3, 2026, also confirmed that North Texas will host nine official World Cup matches at AT&T Stadium, which will be renamed Dallas Stadium for the event, including one of the tournament semifinals. That match schedule intensifies demand on hotels, transportation and security planning across Collin County neighborhoods that funnel visitors to Frisco and the Dallas stadium complex.
FIFA described Team Base Camps as the primary training and operational headquarters for participating teams throughout the tournament. Both Toyota Stadium in Frisco and Mansfield Stadium were highlighted for offering multiple practice fields and performance and recovery amenities, facilities that teams will need during the condensed World Cup schedule. Officials noted final team-to-venue pairings remain pending until FIFA completes its qualification process and confirms assignments.
Mansfield’s role carries local development implications. Mansfield Stadium, described in the announcement as Mansfield Multipurpose Stadium, is under construction and scheduled to open in summer 2026. The venue will anchor the 250-acre Staybolt Street Entertainment District and serve as the primary home for North Texas SC, the reigning MLS NEXT Pro champions and an affiliate of FC Dallas. Mansfield’s inclusion was among 14 new base camp sites added to FIFA’s official list, and local reporting noted that the addition increases Dallas-area Team Base Camp options to six.

Frisco and Mansfield leaders framed the selections as a payoff for years of investment. "'The World Cup is finally here,' said Mayor Jeff Cheney, City of Frisco.'We’ve been looking forward to this for years. We’re excited to host fans from all over the world and ‘roll out the red carpet’ for those visitors and our residents." Mansfield Mayor Michael Evans said, "We look forward to showing our guests the Southern hospitality Mansfield is known for. With Mansfield Stadium and the Staybolt District lining up perfectly with the biggest sporting event in the world, Mansfield will make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Regionally, the Dallas area now boasts the highest number of Team Base Camp options of any U.S. city, part of a total of 62 sites across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Teams were set to select base camps after the group stage draw in December 2025, and FIFA will confirm final assignments after the completion of the official qualification process, leaving exact national-team pairings for Frisco and Mansfield to be announced later. The selections cement Collin County’s role in a global tournament and focus attention on local infrastructure, hospitality capacity and economic planning as summer 2026 approaches.
