McKinney Inaugural Historic Half Marathon Benefits Scottish Rite for Children
McKinney's first-ever half marathon on March 28 routes thousands of runners through historic downtown, with proceeds going to Scottish Rite for Children in Frisco.

McKinney is stepping into the running calendar for the first time on March 28 with the inaugural McKinney Historic Half Presented by BMW, a community race event that routes participants through the city's historic downtown, tree-lined neighborhoods, and park system while raising funds for Scottish Rite for Children in Frisco.
The event, hosted at TUPPS Brewery at 402 E. Louisiana St., is organized by the same team behind the BMW Dallas Marathon and offers three race distances: a half marathon starting at 7:00 a.m., a 5K beginning at 7:15 a.m., and a Kid's 100-meter dash that has already sold out. Thousands of runners, families, and spectators are expected to participate in what organizers describe as "a defining moment for the city, one that celebrates movement, connection and the shared energy of a community coming together for years to come."
Registration remains open through March 26 at mckinneyhalf.com. The half marathon entry is priced at $139, the adult 5K at $54, and the youth 5K for runners 12 and under at $15. Runners who want a personalized keepsake can add an iTAB Ribbon Hanger to their registration for $15; the medal insert is engraved with the finisher's name and finish time and mailed after race day.
Overall half marathon winners will receive a Strat-o-timer GMT watch by Jack Mason, and awards will be distributed across 18 finisher categories. The kid's dash, while sold out, signals the family-oriented character organizers built into the event from the start.

Packet pickup runs across three windows before race day: Saturday, March 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Sunday, March 22 from noon to 4:00 p.m.; and Friday, March 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The official event site lists the packet pickup location as Scottish Rite for Children Frisco at 5700 Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, though TUPPS Brewery is listed as the race host and some event materials display the pickup schedule alongside the brewery's address. Runners should confirm their pickup location directly with organizers before heading out. Critically, there is no race morning packet pickup option; all packets must be collected during the designated windows.
Event partners include McKinney EDC, Prysmian Encore Wire, Fleet Feet, UCAN, CELSIUS Live Fit, Pickle Juice, KidSole, HEB Helping Here, and Perspire Sauna Studio, alongside presenting sponsor BMW and host TUPPS Brewery.
