McKinney Innovation Fund Backs PracticePlan to Expand Idle Facility Rentals Nationwide
McKinney's Innovation Fund backed PracticePlan, a zero-cost rental platform already running in 23 states, to accelerate its push to monetize idle gyms and sports facilities nationwide.

The McKinney Economic Development Corporation added another portfolio company to its Innovation Fund earlier this month, investing in PracticePlan, a platform built to convert unused sports, recreation and performance facilities into paying rental spaces without upfront cost to facility owners.
The MEDC announced the investment on March 13, 2026, describing PracticePlan as a zero-cost facility rental platform already operating across 23 states. The McKinney Innovation Fund's backing is intended to accelerate the company's national expansion, pushing the platform into markets where gyms, training centers and recreation facilities routinely sit dark during off-peak hours.
PracticePlan's model addresses a persistent inefficiency in the sports and recreation sector: facilities that carry fixed overhead costs, from lease payments to utilities, but generate no revenue during unbooked windows. By connecting those idle spaces with renters, the platform creates a revenue stream for facility operators without requiring them to invest in new infrastructure or technology of their own.
The investment continues a pattern of activity from the McKinney Innovation Fund, which has been building a portfolio across health technology and innovation sectors. Other companies that have joined the fund include Nerveli, described as advancing AI-driven health and human performance solutions, and Edenlux Corp., a South Korea-based health technology company focused on eye wellness that is expanding to McKinney through the MEDC. In December 2025, the MEDC also announced a strategic partnership with VC Arena to strengthen venture connectivity across Texas.
The MEDC, which operates out of its office at 7300 SH 121 SB Suite 200 in McKinney, has also signaled broader structural changes, announcing the launch of the McKinney Innovation Exchange as the next evolution of the Innovation Fund, though full details of that initiative have not yet been released.
No investment amount or terms were disclosed in connection with the PracticePlan announcement. The MEDC can be reached at (972) 547-7651.
