Plano Fintech Alkami Expands Partnership, Adds Account Opening Solution for Credit Union
Empower FCU can now open accounts online in under 5 minutes after expanding its partnership with Plano-based Alkami Technology.

Empower Federal Credit Union has expanded its partnership with Plano-based Alkami Technology and selected MANTL's Onboarding & Account Opening Solution to overhaul how it brings new members and business customers into the fold, the company announced Thursday.
The move adds two distinct product modules to Empower FCU's existing Alkami Digital Banking Platform setup: MANTL Retail Account Opening and MANTL Business Account Opening. On the retail side, Empower FCU expects to deliver online account opening in less than five minutes and in-branch openings in under 10 minutes. Existing members will be able to open additional accounts in just a few clicks, a capability Alkami says will help drive cross-sell opportunities and deepen primary financial relationships.
The business banking component is designed to strengthen Empower FCU's ability to attract and serve business members as it expands those offerings. Accounts will be openable across four channels: online, in-branch, on a mobile app, or in the field, giving the credit union a consistent onboarding path regardless of where a prospective member first engages.
Because Empower FCU already runs on the Alkami Digital Banking Platform, the MANTL implementation is positioned to create what Alkami describes as a seamless, end-to-end onboarding experience from account opening through digital banking, with benefits extending to both members and credit union employees.

The announcement marks the latest in a string of credit union partnerships centered on the MANTL product. In January, Alkami announced that Grow Financial Credit Union had expanded its own partnership with the company to adopt the same MANTL Onboarding & Account Opening Solution, targeting streamlined digital and in-branch retail account opening. Mountain America Credit Union, a top-10 credit union based in Utah, extended its Alkami partnership for five years in July 2024, continuing to use the platform alongside Alkami's Data & Marketing Solutions.
Alkami Technology (Nasdaq: ALKT) is headquartered at 5601 Granite Parkway in Plano and describes itself as a digital sales and service platform provider for financial institutions across the United States. The company has been broadening its partner ecosystem beyond core banking functions, including a November 2025 agreement with fintech Spiral to embed personalized savings and community-giving tools into the Alkami platform, a deal that included Texans Credit Union as an early participant.
No financial terms or implementation timeline for the Empower FCU arrangement were disclosed.
