Plano’s new indoor sand play center opens this summer
Diggers Cove is bringing a sandbox-style indoor play space to Plano, with sensory play, birthday parties and memberships aimed at kids 1 to 10.

Plano families looking for a weatherproof place for younger children will have a new option this summer: Diggers Cove, an indoor sand play center built around digging, building and sensory play instead of the usual climbing gym or arcade setup.
The business is preparing to open at 7224 Independence Parkway, Suite 238, near Independence Parkway and Legacy Drive. Diggers Cove’s website says the Plano location is set to open in July 2026 and describes the concept as an indoor sensory sand playground for children 10 and under. The play space is designed around large sand areas, with silica-free sand sourced from the Bahamas, plus construction-themed tools, ride-on excavators and interactive digging stations.
That focus gives the center a clear niche in Collin County’s family entertainment market. Rather than leaning on screens or passive play, Diggers Cove is built for hands-on activity that can support fine motor skills, collaboration and imaginative play. The website lists a signature sand pit, a remote-control construction area, an Animated Sandbox and an interactive creative wall, giving younger children several ways to stay engaged indoors when North Texas heat, rain or school breaks make outdoor play harder.

The company’s FAQ says Diggers Cove will also offer birthday parties and memberships, which suggests it is aiming to become a repeat destination instead of a one-time outing. For parents who want a close-to-home option for toddlers and preschoolers, that mix of sensory play and event space fills a different lane than larger trampoline parks or play cafes.
Public filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show a renovation project for Diggers Cove at Legacy Drive Village, 7200 Independence Pkwy #238, Plano, TX 75025. The filing was registered March 30, 2026, with work starting April 13 and scheduled to finish May 29. The estimated cost is $80,000.

The Plano Chamber of Commerce lists Saira Waheed as founder and places Diggers Cove in the Entertainment & Amusement category. The timing also fits a broader North Texas trend toward sandbox-style indoor play. Dallas Innovates reported earlier this year that Little Diggers planned a 1,200-square-foot sandbox concept in Plano with more than 200 toys, trucks and excavators, and that the brand expected to expand to five DFW locations.
For Plano, Diggers Cove points to a real gap in the local market: a specialized indoor space built for younger kids, with enough tactile play to make a July opening more than just another ribbon-cutting.
