Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors Executive Director Robert Daleo runs the math tight: every 1.2 pounds of donated food produces one meal. On March 25, when members of the Prosper Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wheeled 14 pallets totaling 20,000 pounds into the N3 pantry, that equation came out to 18,000 or more meals for families across Collin, East Denton and Southern Grayson counties.

Church members unloaded every pallet by hand. N3's electric forklift charger was among the equipment lost when a fire gutted the pantry's headquarters facility on January 18, 2025, and it has not yet been replaced. The haul included flour, spaghetti, applesauce, pasta sauce and dish detergent, stacked across the 14 pallets that filled the facility to the brim.

It was not the Prosper Stake's first delivery. The congregation brought 19,000 pounds of food to N3 in October 2025, making March's contribution the second major drop in five months, pushing the church's combined support to 39,000 pounds since fall. The partnership stretches back further: in 2023, the Prosper Stake donated 55,000 pounds split between N3 and another North Texas food bank.

N3 serves approximately 300 households each week, with each family leaving with between 50 and 70 pounds of food, making the pantry a primary source rather than a supplement for many Prosper and Celina families. As a partner agency of the North Texas Food Bank, N3 coordinates supplemental distributions on top of community donations. Rebuilding from the January 2025 fire is ongoing, and while reconstruction and fundraising continue, donations like last week's keep the distribution schedule intact and the shelves stocked.

Families in Collin, East Denton and Southern Grayson counties can schedule food pickup through the pantry's appointment-based system, with distribution available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Volunteers are needed to help sort, pack and assist clients during distribution shifts. Hours, eligibility information and volunteer sign-up are at n3foodpantry.org.
