Stonebriar Centre kept its new Saturday minor-supervision rule in place after what mall officials described as a successful first weekend of enforcement, turning a temporary crowd-control step into a visible new weekend rule at one of Frisco’s busiest gathering spots.

The policy, called Parental Guidance Required, took effect May 9 after the mall said disruptive and unsupervised youth gatherings had become a problem. Under the rule, guests 17 and younger must be accompanied at all times by a parent or supervising adult age 21 or older from 3 p.m. until closing on Saturdays. One adult may be responsible for up to four minors, and proof of age may be required for both minors and supervising adults.

Stonebriar says the enforcement process starts at the doors. Trained public safety officers are stationed at entrances, and mall staff are checking identification for visitors who appear to be underage. Any unsupervised youth already inside before 3 p.m. must leave by that time or immediately be joined by a parent or supervising adult age 21 or older. The mall’s code of conduct also bans loitering, running, horseplay and disorderly conduct, underscoring that the curfew sits inside a broader set of behavior rules rather than standing alone.

That matters at Stonebriar, a 1.7 million-square-foot center that opened in August 2000 and has long been one of Collin County’s most recognizable retail destinations. Brookfield Properties, which operates the property through GGP, describes the Frisco center as a premier shopping, dining and entertainment spot in a fast-growing area near Dallas. The mall’s location near Preston Road and the Sam Rayburn Tollway has made it a regular weekend stop for families, teens and workers across Frisco and the northern Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The first weekend’s smooth rollout appears to have given mall leaders enough confidence to keep the policy in place while they evaluate it. For now, the rule is not a permanent daily youth ban. It is a targeted Saturday restriction aimed at preserving order in a place that has to balance teen access with public safety and the expectations of parents, retailers and other shoppers. At Stonebriar, that balance is now being tested in real time, one Saturday afternoon at a time.
