Urban Outfitters added a new draw for Frisco shoppers when it opened at Stonebriar Centre on April 21, bringing clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods to the mall’s lower level next to Express.

The store at 2601 Preston Road, Suite 1239, expands the kind of merchandise local shoppers can now buy in person. Urban Outfitters sells women’s and men’s apparel along with home décor, beauty products and wellness items, a mix that reaches beyond basic clothing racks and into the lifestyle purchases that often appeal to teens, college-age shoppers and young adults. For Collin County customers, that means one more place to browse trend-driven merchandise without ordering online or driving to another part of the metroplex.

The opening also says something about Stonebriar Centre’s position in Frisco’s retail market. The mall, which opened in August 2000, spans about 1.7 million square feet and can hold roughly 175 tenants when fully occupied. Randy Barnett, the mall’s senior general manager, said Stonebriar aims to keep shoppers longer by creating an “extended stay” experience. He said the center employs between 1,500 and 2,000 people a year on average.

Urban Outfitters is part of a larger leasing push. Barnett said 2026 additions include Urban Outfitters, Alo Yoga and Princess Polly, while Dick’s House of Sport is under construction in the former Sears space. That combination points to a deliberate effort to keep Stonebriar relevant to younger shoppers and to preserve the mall’s role as a regional destination rather than just a neighborhood shopping stop.

The buildout behind the new store was substantial. A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing listed the project at 7,500 square feet with an estimated cost of $781,307 and a completion date of April 15. The filing named Stonebriar Mall LLC as the owner and Urban Outfitters Inc. as the tenant.

The opening also drew attention outside the usual retail crowd. PETA said it planned to protest the grand opening at noon on April 21, underscoring that the store’s arrival landed as both a commercial move and a public flashpoint. For Stonebriar, Urban Outfitters is another bet that shoppers still want to see, touch and carry out what they buy, not just wait for it to show up at the door.
