Copperas Cove Closes City Facilities, Adjusts Holiday Trash Schedule

The City of Copperas Cove notified residents on December 15 that it will close all municipal facilities on Wednesday December 24 and Thursday December 25 for the Christmas holiday. The closure explicitly includes the Solid Waste Transfer Station, which will not be available for drop off on those dates. The city also released an adjusted collection schedule for residential trash and for recycling, brush and bulk services for the week of December 22 through December 26.

Residential trash collection will follow area assignments. On Monday December 22 crews will service Areas 1 and 2 while recycling, brush and bulk services will run in Area 2. On Tuesday December 23 crews will service Areas 3 and 4 while recycling, brush and bulk services will run in Area 4. On Wednesday December 24 crews will service Areas 5 and 6 while recycling, brush and bulk services will run in Area 6. Thursday December 25 will be observed as a holiday with no collection activity. Collection resumes on Friday December 26 with crews servicing Areas 7 and 8 and recycling, brush and bulk services in Area 8.

Commercial trash customers should note that regular commercial collection will occur on scheduled days except for Thursday December 25, when no collection will take place. Commercial customers whose regular collection day falls on Thursday will be serviced either the day before or the day after the holiday, according to the city notice.

The temporary closures and schedule changes affect household waste planning and business operations ahead of the holiday. Residents who rely on the Solid Waste Transfer Station for disposal should plan to visit before December 24, and those with large brush or bulk items should confirm their area day to avoid missed service.
