Coryell County deputies arrest two in drug case involving children
Deputies say narcotics, firearms and cash were seized from a home where children were present, and two Copperas Cove residents were charged.

Coryell County deputies arrested Danny Oliver Thompson, Jr. and Tiffany Matteson, both of Copperas Cove, after a search warrant turned up an undisclosed amount of narcotics, firearms, U.S. currency and other items tied to drug distribution at a home where children were present. Both were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 4g < 200g, a felony under Texas law, and were taken into custody without incident.
Investigators said the case is still active and more charges may be pending as they continue to review the evidence. The Coryell County Sheriff’s Office said it will keep working with the appropriate prosecuting authority as the case moves forward, and it urged residents to report narcotics activity by calling 254-865-7201 or submitting anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
The arrests fit a broader enforcement pattern in Coryell County, where deputies and investigators have used high-risk warrants in recent drug and child-protection cases. On Sept. 9, 2025, authorities executed a high-risk warrant in Oglesby and arrested two people in a child-crime investigation. After that operation, Sheriff Scott Williams said deputies would “aggressively pursue those who prey on the youth of Coryell County.”

Another major warrant in Copperas Cove on April 4, 2025, led to the seizure of more than 13 pounds of marijuana, cocaine, paraphernalia consistent with manufacturing or delivering controlled substances, and multiple weapons. Taken together, the cases show a countywide push against narcotics operations that law enforcement says can endanger children, arm offenders and spread beyond a single address into the surrounding community.
