Gatesville Junior High Tennis Excels at Robinson Tournament with Multiple Wins
Gatesville junior high tennis left Robinson with seven first-place finishes and a consolation title, a sign the program’s next wave is already producing.

Gatesville Junior High’s tennis program put multiple players on top of the bracket in Robinson, with first-place finishes across both grade levels and a strong team showing against a deep Central Texas field.
Assistant coach Alex Scott said the players battled through a tournament that included China Spring, Robinson, Copperas Cove, North Belton, McGregor, Temple and Vanguard. For Gatesville families watching the program’s next generation, the results pointed to more than one standout afternoon. They showed a junior high group spreading wins across singles and doubles, a sign that the district’s tennis pipeline is producing depth as well as individual talent.
In eighth-grade girls singles, Olivia Potts finished first. Bryson Stevens won eighth-grade boys singles, while Jalynn Kim and Coralise Ivy finished first in eighth-grade girls doubles. The seventh-grade group matched that pace: Bella Bone won seventh-grade girls singles, Jordan Navarette placed third in the same division, and Chloe Connolly and Jozie Janisch took first in seventh-grade girls doubles. Talon Brock was named consolation champion.

The Robinson Junior High Tournament was held in Robinson, and Robinson ISD listed an RJH Tennis Tournament at Robinson High School, 700 W. Tate Ave. The host school’s junior high tennis coaches are Jodi Olson and Daniel Trayler. Gatesville ISD has also listed Gatesville junior high tennis at Robinson in past seasons, including 2025 and 2023, underscoring that this matchup has become a recurring test against nearby programs.
That continuity matters in a sport where early confidence often carries forward. Gatesville’s junior high results came in a district that has also celebrated older tennis standouts, including former state qualifiers and medalists Stormy Tatum, Slone Early, Alex Scott and Ty Warren. The Robinson finishes added another layer to that tradition, with Gatesville athletes winning matches, collecting medals and giving the program momentum heading toward the next level.
