Harker Heights sweeps Cedar Hill in Copperas Cove for bi-district title
Harker Heights finally broke through again, sweeping Cedar Hill in Copperas Cove to win its first bi-district baseball title since 2017. The Knights took Game 1, 1-0, then closed with a 10-3 win at Copperas Cove High School.

A sweep in Copperas Cove gave Harker Heights a breakthrough that reached well beyond one playoff series. The Knights beat Cedar Hill 10-3 in Game 2 at Copperas Cove High School, finishing off a two-game Class 6A Division II bi-district sweep and claiming their first bi-district championship since 2017.
The series turned on a tight opener and a far more comfortable finish. Harker Heights edged Cedar Hill 1-0 in Game 1, then returned to Copperas Cove High School for the relocated second game and pulled away for the 10-3 victory. MaxPreps dated the Game 2 win to Thursday, April 30, 2026, and the result moved the Knights into the 2026 UIL Texas Baseball Championships Conference 6A Division II bracket.
For Harker Heights, the win also underscored a strong regular season and top seeding path. Texas High School Baseball’s 12-6A page listed the Knights as the district’s Division II No. 1 seed, with a 9-3 district record and a 21-8-2 overall mark heading into the playoffs. Randy Culp was listed as the team’s head coach, and the numbers reflected a group that spent the spring putting itself in position for a postseason run.

The location made the victory matter locally, too. Copperas Cove High School, part of Copperas Cove Independent School District, hosted the relocated game in Coryell County, giving nearby fans a playoff setting close to home instead of a longer road trip. Harker Heights, meanwhile, belongs to Killeen Independent School District, which serves more than 42,000 Central Texas students, making the Knights’ advance a point of pride for one of the region’s largest school systems.
The result carried added weight because it marked a meaningful benchmark for the program. Harker Heights had last won a bi-district baseball title in 2017, and the sweep over Cedar Hill ended that wait with authority. In a season where playoff advancement has been a recurring measuring stick for the Knights across sports, this run gave Coryell County-area fans a nearby team, a postseason stage and a result worth remembering.
