Man Found Dead in Pickup Truck Retrieved from Leon River

Gatesville police responded to a reported crash in the 100 block of East Leon Street on Monday afternoon and discovered a pickup truck in the Leon River with a lone occupant who was found dead. Officers received the first call at around 1:21 p.m. about a single vehicle crash, and a separate caller reported the vehicle in the river on its side. Responding officers attempted to reach the occupant at the scene.

After crews recovered the pickup from the river, officials pronounced the 65 year old man dead.
