Cumberland County 34th Annual Trash Hunt March 21, Registration Due March 6
The Cumberland County Improvement Authority seeks volunteers for its 34th Annual Trash Hunt on March 21; registration forms must be returned by March 6 to Samantha DeFrancisco.

The Cumberland County Improvement Authority is recruiting volunteers for the 34th Annual Trash Hunt scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, with registration forms due by March 6. Volunteers will remove trash and unwanted debris from roadways and public spaces across the county; The Authority will supply Trash Hunter Kits and handle proper disposal of collected waste.
Last year’s turnout provides a benchmark for impact: in 2025 there were 497 volunteers from 31 groups, the highest participation since the event began. Groups and individuals may select their preferred cleanup site; the nonprofit Cohansey Area Watershed Association is slated to cover Bridgeton City Park (one published notice spelled the park "Bridgton"). Treasurer Jason Scythes said, “We are looking forward to welcoming our dedicated volunteers who strive to improve our tomorrow.”
Registration is required for all individual and group volunteers. Registration forms and more information are available on The Authority’s event page for the 2026 Trash Hunt; questions may be directed to Samantha DeFrancisco, Cumberland County Recycling and Clean Communities Coordinator, at 856-825-3700, extension 1270, or samdefrancisco@theauthoritynj.com. Forms must be returned by March 6 to ensure volunteers receive kit assignments and disposal arrangements.

The Authority’s February 10 press release, datelined Millville, New Jersey, names both long-standing and new partners for 2026: the Cumberland County Federation of Sportsmen, which helped launch the event in 1992, and the New Jersey AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassadors Program. Samantha DeFrancisco emphasized the volunteers and partnerships underpinning the annual cleanup: “I am looking forward to celebrating The Authority’s 34th Annual Trash Hunt. As always, I am excited to welcome new and returning volunteers, who work together to keep Cumberland County beautiful.” She added, “The Cumberland County Clean Communities Program is thankful for our continued partnership with both the Cumberland County Federation of Sportsmen and the New Jersey AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassadors Program, who help to make this event a success year after year.”
The Cumberland County Improvement Authority, which operates the county landfill and has organized the event through the Cumberland County Clean Communities Program for 34 years, will distribute kits “stocked with the supplies needed for safe trash collection” and will arrange disposal of collected waste. Courier‑Post community notices repeating the press release appeared February 13 and include the same registration deadline and contact details; volunteers who want to join this year’s cleanup should return forms by March 6 to secure a Trash Hunter Kit and a preferred cleanup assignment for March 21.
