Cumberland County Holds 2026 Primary Ballot Drawing, Key Deadlines Approaching
The June 2 primary ballot order was set April 2 in Bridgeton; voters had until April 8 to switch party affiliation, with early voting starting May 26.

Cumberland County Clerk Celeste M. Riley's office conducted the official 2026 primary ballot drawing on April 2 at 3:00 p.m., establishing the order in which candidates will appear on the ballot for the June 2 primary election. The drawing took place at the County Clerk's Office at 60 West Broad Street in Bridgeton, where campaign staffers and party representatives typically attend to monitor the process firsthand. Ballot placement, while procedural, carries real consequence in down-ballot and low-information races where name order can influence voter choice.
The April 2 drawing came just days before another critical deadline: the cutoff for voters to file a Change of Party Affiliation Declaration Form with the Cumberland County Board of Elections, which expired April 8. Voters who missed that window will not be able to switch party affiliation in time to participate in the June primary under their new registration. The Board of Elections can be reached at 856-453-5801 for questions about registration status.
Primary petitions had been due even earlier, on March 23, meaning the candidate-filing phase is now fully closed and the ballot is set for the county's next major electoral contest.
The June 2 primary will run from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., but voters who cannot make it to the polls that day have options. Early voting opens May 26 and runs through May 31. Voters wishing to cast a mail-in ballot must submit a Vote by Mail application to qualify. The County Clerk's Office provides satellite services at the Cumberland Mall in Vineland, giving residents in the county's largest city a closer option for in-person election transactions without traveling to Bridgeton.
The November 3 general election follows, with polls open the same hours as the primary. The Clerk's Office has maintained a steady administrative pace this year, having also overseen the 2026 Fire Election on February 21, when polls ran from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
