Cumberland County Wrestlers Compete at Region 8 Tournament in Williamstown

Cumberland County wrestlers took to the mats at Williamstown High School on March 6 and 7, competing in the Region 8 South Jersey individual wrestling tournament with state championship berths on the line.

Region 8 is one of eight regional tournaments held across New Jersey that serve as the gateway to the NJSIAA individual state championships at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Only wrestlers who advance through the regional bracket earn the right to compete on that storied Atlantic City stage, making the two-day tournament at Williamstown one of the most consequential stops on the South Jersey wrestling calendar.

Williamstown High School hosted the tournament, bringing together competitors from across the South Jersey region as athletes worked through bracket rounds across multiple weight classes over the course of the weekend.

The state championships at Boardwalk Hall represent the pinnacle of New Jersey high school wrestling, and qualifying through a regional tournament is the mandatory path to get there. For Cumberland County wrestlers, the Williamstown tournament was their Region 8 opportunity to secure that qualification.
