Cumberland County Library is offering a monthlong schedule of free computer training classes through December 2025, with sessions designed for beginners and residents seeking one on one assistance. The series began December 1 and includes scheduled group classes and individual appointments to cover typing, computer basics, file management, Zoom, and introductory Excel skills.

Upcoming and ongoing sessions include Learn to Type on Wednesday December 3, Zoom Basics on Wednesday December 10, Computer Basics on Monday December 15, File Management on Tuesday December 16, Excel Basics data entry and formatting on Wednesday December 17, and Excel Basics basic formulas on Thursday December 18. The library is also providing one on one training by appointment on December 5, 8 and 12 to accommodate individualized learning needs. All classes meet on the first floor at 800 E. Commerce Street in Bridgeton, and the entrance is accessible via a ramp with railing to ensure access for patrons with mobility needs.

Registration is required because seating is limited, though walk ins are welcome when space allows. Classes are free and open to both county residents and non county residents, an approach that broadens access for surrounding communities. For general inquiries call (856) 453 2210 and press x26100, and for questions about class content call (856) 453 2210 and press option 3. The library also posts program information and additional services at cclnj.org.

Local public health and social equity concerns are tied to digital access, as limited computer skills can impede access to telehealth visits, vaccine scheduling, job applications and benefits enrollment. By offering accessible training at no cost, the library addresses a key social determinant of health and creates a community resource that reduces barriers for older adults, low income residents and people without home internet. Sustaining and expanding programs like this will require continued public support and funding, along with partnerships that can scale training for the county. For now the December schedule provides practical, immediate opportunities for Cumberland County residents to gain essential digital skills.
