Millville Residents Alarmed by Heavy Police Presence on Third Street
A state police helicopter and tactical officers stormed a Third Street home in Millville, forcing a resident's son out at gunpoint during a foot pursuit Wednesday.

A New Jersey State Police helicopter circling over Millville's Third Street was the first sign something serious was unfolding. By the time troopers in tactical gear had surrounded a home on the 100 block, neighbors had spent hours trying to piece together what was happening in their front yards.
Ring camera footage captured the moment state police and officers took over the front porch of the Third Street residence, with officers heard speaking directly into the doorbell camera moments before entering. The homeowner, a woman who did not want to be identified, was at work when police surrounded her house. Her son was inside.
"My son was here, he was a little freaking out, they actually made him come out with his hands up and guns were drawn," she said. Troopers told him they were tracking a suspect on foot who had been jumping fences behind the property. "A construction worker saw him go down my steps, but didn't know where he went from there. That's why they need to make sure everything is safe," the woman said, relaying what troopers explained to her son.
Michele Brown of Bridgeton happened to be walking her dogs nearby when the scene unfolded around her. "It was a lot I didn't understand what was going on," she said. The sight of officers moving through the neighborhood with weapons drawn left little doubt something serious was at hand. "Definitely startling cause you see all these cops with their guns out, and you're just looking like, 'Whoa'," Brown said.

Millville police confirmed in a statement that the suspect was not apprehended after fleeing state police on foot, and added that there is no suspected threat to the community. New Jersey State Police did not respond to requests for comment.
Key details remain publicly unconfirmed, including the suspect's identity, a physical description, any charges, and how many officers and agencies were involved in the operation. Whether troopers entered the Third Street home with a warrant has not been disclosed.
