Vineland High School Pep Rally Doubles as Superintendent Llano's Sendoff
A winter pep rally at Vineland High School's Tanner Building turned into an emotional sendoff for Superintendent Alfonso Q. Llano Jr., who left March 1 for Camden City.

What began as a winter pep rally for ninth- and tenth-grade students at Vineland High School's Tanner Building became something more: a community farewell to Superintendent Alfonso Q. Llano Jr., who stepped away from Vineland Public Schools to take over as state-appointed superintendent of the Camden City School District on March 1.
The program opened with recognition of class officers, then moved to Student Government Association officers, acknowledging their leadership and dedication to the school community. From there, the VHS dance team and VHS cheer team took the floor, followed by a stretch of competitive games that kept the energy up and the crowd locked in throughout the afternoon.
The rally's defining moment came when the program paused to honor Llano directly. Llano addressed the assembled students, staff, and faculty with remarks described as heartfelt, reflecting on his tenure with the school community and leaving the crowd with encouragement for the future. His message landed. Students, staff, and faculty joined in expressing appreciation and best wishes as he prepares for the next chapter of his career in Camden.

The full video of the rally is available on the district's YouTube channel, VLDSchoolsTV, for anyone who wants to watch the tribute in full.
Llano's departure marks a significant transition for Vineland Public Schools. His appointment to lead Camden City's district came from the state, adding weight to a sendoff that students and staff clearly felt was deserved.
