County Announces Holiday Closures, Waste Bid and Commission Vacancies
The Decatur County Courthouse and convenience centers observed holiday closures around Christmas, and county officials have opened bidding for solid waste disposal with a January deadline. A county commission meeting on January 20 will fill three commissioner vacancies, and residents should plan for service disruptions and opportunities to participate.

The Decatur County government issued several notices this week affecting local services, contractor procurement, and civic participation. The Decatur County Courthouse was closed December 24 through December 27 in observance of Christmas. Decatur County Solid Waste Convenience Centers were closed December 24 and December 25 for the holiday, and both the courthouse and the convenience centers will be closed on January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day.
For businesses and residents that need records, permits, or disposal services around the holidays, the closures mean a narrow window to complete year end tasks. County leaders advise planning ahead for filings and for household waste drop off since convenience center schedules were reduced over the holiday period and will be unavailable on January 1.
Separately, Decatur County Solid Waste is accepting sealed bids for solid waste disposal services. Bids will be received at the office of the County Mayor at the Decatur County Courthouse, 22 West Main Street, Decaturville, Tennessee, on Tuesday January 13, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. local time. Bid documents may be reviewed at the office of the Decatur County Mayor and obtained from F and M Consulting, Inc., located at 25 Court Street, Savannah, Tennessee 38372 during normal business hours of 7:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. Questions about bidding may be directed to 731 925 2983.
Bids must be submitted on the provided bid form, sealed in an envelope plainly marked on the outside with BID FOR DECATUR COUNTY SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL SERVICES as well as the company name and license number. Specified insurance is required. Decatur County reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Contractors and local operators considering work with the county should note the date and procedural requirements to ensure their proposals are accepted.
The Decatur County Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday January 20, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. in the Decatur County Courthouse at 22 West Main Street, Decaturville. The commission will seek to fill three vacancies, two positions for District 7 commissioner and one position for District 8 commissioner. A 15 minute Public Input session will begin at 6:00 P.M. Anyone interested in speaking should contact the Decatur County Mayor’s office at 731 852 2131 or sign in 15 minutes before the meeting is called to order. Public comment guidelines and prior agendas are available at decaturcountytn.gov.
These notices combine routine administrative scheduling with decisions that affect service delivery and local representation. Residents should note the holiday closures, observe the bid timeline if they plan to propose waste services, and consider attending the January 20 meeting if they wish to influence who represents District 7 or District 8.
