Decatur County Deputies Recover Two Missing Children, Drone Aided Search

Decatur County law enforcement recovered two missing children ages five and three from the 1900 block of Camper Road in Decaturville on December 20, 2025, roughly 31 minutes after the initial dispatch. The first deputy arrived within minutes of the call and began searching the area. Additional deputies and a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper joined the response, and the sheriff's office deployed a thermal imaging drone to widen the search perimeter.

Both children, who are autistic, were located and recovered safely 31 minutes after dispatch, according to the sheriff's office. Sheriff Dale King praised deputies for their fast response and credited the drone as an effective tool that allowed officers to search larger areas more quickly.
