Decatur County Seeks Bids for ADA Upgrades at RHS Baseball Facility
The Decatur County Board of Education issued a formal invitation to bidders on December 24 for construction work to bring the RHS baseball restroom area into ADA compliance, with sealed bids due by 9 a.m. on January 13, 2026. The project outlines precise concrete and masonry specifications, a target completion date of April 15, 2026, and a procurement process that favors the low responsible bidder while reserving the board's right to reject bids.

The Decatur County Board of Education moved this week to solicit contractors for a targeted accessibility and site improvement project at the RHS baseball complex. The invitation to bidders, posted December 24, sets a bid deadline of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in the office of the Director of Schools in Decaturville.
Scope of work is tightly defined. The contractor will remove an existing 12 feet by 5 feet pad in front of the restrooms and install a new pad that meets ADA requirements. The project calls for placing 46 feet by 2 feet of 8 inch concrete masonry unit with a cap block on top of the existing CMU at the back of the bleachers. A 620 square foot ADA compliant pad will be poured at the back of the CMU, and a 105 feet by 5 feet ADA compliant sidewalk will run from the asphalt to the new pad, including a connection to the front of the restroom.
Material and workmanship standards are included in the invitation. All new concrete is to be 4 inches thick, 3500 PSI limestone mix with 6 by 6 welded wire fabric on compacted subgrade. Cross slopes must match surrounding grades to ensure positive drainage with no ponding. The layout must be staked by the contractor for approval before construction, and all disturbed areas are to be seeded and covered with straw blankets or sodded. The board set a completion date of April 15, 2026.
Bidding procedures require sealed envelopes plainly marked with RHS Baseball and the name of the submitting firm or person, and must include appropriate license and insurance documentation. The board states it is committed to award to the low bidder that is responsible and capable of performing the work, while also reserving the express right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities.

The project represents a routine but important investment in school accessibility and safety. For local contractors it offers short term construction work, and for the community it ensures campus facilities meet federal accessibility standards and improve access for students, families and spectators.
