Bridgewater by Legacy Retirement Opens Doors to First Castle Rock Residents
A Castle Rock building vacant for years near the Outlets is now open as Bridgewater by Legacy Retirement, with 142 apartments spanning independent, assisted and memory care.

After sitting vacant for years beside the Castle Rock Outlets and cycling through numerous ownership changes, the building at 3997 Home Street has finally found its purpose: Bridgewater by Legacy Retirement is welcoming its first residents.
"It's just so exhilarating," said Cheryl Davis, the community's executive director. "There is a tremendous need for more services here in the area."
Western States Lodging, Management and Development took charge of bringing the project to Castle Rock, operating it under the Legacy Retirement Communities brand, which claims more than 30 years of senior living experience. The 142-apartment building offers a full continuum of care, with 60 units designated for independent living, 48 for assisted living and the remainder for memory care.
Cole Smith, partner-chief investment officer, framed the opening as something beyond a change in management. "Bridgewater by Legacy Retirement represents more than new ownership," Smith said. "By offering a full continuum of senior living options, the community aims to enrich the lives of older adults in Douglas County through its signature 'personal touch culture.'" He added: "It's a promise of a distinctive new experience for seniors and families in the area. Our team is passionate about creating communities where every resident feels known, valued and connected."
Each apartment includes a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, safety features and an emergency response system. The community also provides scheduled transportation for medical appointments, shopping and banking.

Davis identified dining as one of the two primary factors drawing prospective residents to consider independent living at Bridgewater. Meals are prepared restaurant-style by a chef, and the community offers two dining venues: the main dining room and a secondary option called The Smoke House, which will feature smoked meats.
Beyond dining, Bridgewater's programming includes individualized wellness activities, maintenance-free living with housekeeping included, a fitness center, scenic trails and memory care programming the community describes as grounded in Alzheimer's and dementia best practices.
The opening fills a visible gap in Douglas County's senior living landscape, one Davis and Smith both point to as significant given the region's growth. With first residents now moving in, the long-dormant property next to the Outlets has become one of Castle Rock's more notable new community assets.
