Douglas County Commissioners Hold Business Meeting and Land Use Hearing March 10
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions from Sheriff Darren Weekly shadowed Douglas County commissioners as they met Tuesday at Castle Rock's 100 Third Street hearing room.

The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners convened its regularly scheduled Business Meeting and Land Use/Public Hearing Tuesday at the Commissioners' Hearing Room, 100 Third Street, Castle Rock, with the session running from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of an active fire restriction order covering much of the county's open land. By order of Sheriff Darren Weekly, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place for unincorporated areas of Douglas County. Ordinance No. O-012-004 provides the legal authority for those restrictions, prohibiting open fires, open burning and the use of fireworks throughout unincorporated Douglas County. The order applies broadly across the county's unincorporated areas, though the sources do not specify a start date, expiration date, or exemptions.

Residents unable to attend in person could watch the proceedings live on the Douglas County YouTube Channel. The county also maintains agendas, meeting packets and archived video through its IQM2 public meeting portal, where records from the Board of County Commissioners and more than a dozen other county bodies, including the Planning Commission, Board of Equalization and Douglas County Board of Health, are catalogued and searchable by date going back to 2012.
The March 10 session was one of two related board actions scheduled that day, pairing a standard Business Meeting with a Land Use Meeting and Public Hearing. The county's Legistar records system shows that the same two-part structure, Business Meeting at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Land Use/Public Hearing, has been the standard format for recent commissioner gatherings, including the February 24 meeting.
Specific agenda items, motions, votes and public comment from the March 10 hearing had not been published in the materials available at the time of this report. The agenda packet and archived video for the session are expected to be accessible through the county's IQM2 portal once processing is complete.
