Douglas County Releases Jan. 27 City Council Agenda, Virtual Registration Available
Douglas County released the agenda for the Jan. 27 City Council meeting; a 5:30 p.m. study session precedes the 6:30 p.m. regular meeting and virtual registration is available.

Douglas County has released the agenda for the Jan. 27 City Council meetings, giving residents a clear opportunity to follow deliberations in person or online. The day will begin with a study session at 5:30 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m., and virtual registration is available for those who cannot attend at the Douglas County Library Event Hall.
The agenda was posted Jan. 23, providing advance notice of items city leaders will review and decide. Study sessions are informational and offer City Council members a forum to give direction to City staff without casting votes or taking formal action. Those sessions do not allow public comment. The regular meeting that follows will include opportunities for the public to participate, including the public comment period where anyone may address the Council for up to 3 minutes per person.
Regular City Council meetings are scheduled on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Douglas County Library, 360 Village Square Lane, Event Hall. Study sessions are held as needed at 5:30 p.m. on the first, second, and fourth Tuesdays. That cadence gives residents predictability about when policy discussions and decisions will surface, and when opportunities for direct public input will be available.
For residents tracking land use, budgeting, public safety, or municipal code changes, the Jan. 27 agenda represents an early look at what City Council members may discuss or act upon at the regular session. Study sessions can shape the contours of forthcoming votes by narrowing issues, identifying staff workplans, and clarifying technical details before formal action. Where the public wants to influence outcomes, the regular meeting is the window to speak directly to council members during the public comment period.
Transparency depends on access. The county has made virtual registration available so residents outside the Village Square area can participate, monitor debate, and hold decision-makers accountable. Anyone who plans to address the Council should prepare remarks to fit the 3-minute limit and arrive early if attending in person to register and sign in.
Residents should review the agenda before the meeting and decide whether to attend in person at the Douglas County Library Event Hall or register to participate virtually. The Jan. 27 schedule is the next chance this month to observe council discussion and, where appropriate, to make your voice part of the public record.
