South Metro, West Metro respond to multi-family fire in Douglas County

Multiple fire crews were called to a multi-family structure fire on Old Ski Run Circle in unincorporated Douglas County, a blaze that left neighbors waiting for basic answers about injuries, displacement and what started it. The address appears to be 8425 Old Ski Run Cir, Littleton, CO 80125.

South Metro Fire Rescue and West Metro Fire Rescue both responded to the scene on June 7. No further details had been released about whether anyone was hurt, how many homes or units were affected, or whether residents were forced out of the building.

The response drew in more than one agency in part because of where the fire happened. West Metro Fire Rescue serves sections of Jefferson and Douglas County and unincorporated Littleton, a district that covers more than 108 square miles and nearly 300,000 residents. On the county’s edge, that overlap can put multiple departments into the same call when a structure fire threatens a larger residential building.

The blaze also came just days after Douglas County lifted all fire restrictions in unincorporated areas on June 2. Sheriff Darren Weekly ordered the restrictions removed, but county officials still warned that fire danger remains present, even when formal restrictions are not in place. That warning now sits in sharper focus for residents living in the wildland-urban fringe, where homes, dry vegetation and fast-moving emergency calls can converge.
